Thank you for visiting my website. I’d like to introduce myself and explain why I am running for School Board.

My name is Clayburn Griffin. I was born and raised here in Lovington. I attended college in New York and spent about 10 years there. It’s where I met my wife Grace. We have two young kids: Carnegie and Astrid. We moved back to Lovington a few years ago to raise them. They’ll be entering the Lovington school system soon, and it’s important to me they have a positive experience while receiving a great education that prepares them for the ever-changing world they’ll be facing as adults.

But it’s not just about my kids.  Of course I want a good school system for them, but their neighbors are just as important.  All these kids here are the future of Lovington, and they’re going to be growing up here together.  So what is good for everyone is good for each of us.  A rising tide lifts all boats.

Public school is one of our greatest resources as a country, but the system seems to have deteriorated considerably over time.  It’s often bogged down in bureaucracy and children spend more time worrying about their own safety than getting the opportunity to learn and grow, to prepare for the world.

I know improving our schools is a big task and won’t happen overnight, but I’m committed to doing what’s best for our community and our kids.  That’s what I want to be on the school board, and I would appreciate your vote in the upcoming election (November 7th).

I’m happy to talk to you about your thoughts and concerns regarding Lovington Schools.  You can find me on Facebook or give me a call at 575-631-4984.
